Lower quality gives a smaller file. 85–90% looks the same to most people.

Is your screenshot or photo too big to email, or over the size limit on an upload form? PNG files are lossless, which makes them large — especially for photos. This PNG to JPG converter turns them into JPG files that are usually many times smaller, while still looking the same.

Drop one image or a whole batch, choose the quality, and see exactly how much space you save on each file. Download them separately or as one ZIP. It all happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there’s no sign-up or watermark.

How to use it

  1. 1Drop your PNG images or screenshots onto the box above, or tap "Choose images". JPG is already selected.
  2. 2Pick the quality — 90% looks like the original; 75–80% gives even smaller files for email and uploads.
  3. 3Each image is turned into a JPG straight away, and you can see how much smaller it got. Download them one by one, or all together as a ZIP file.

Questions and answers

Why is my PNG file so big?

PNG stores every pixel exactly, with no loss at all. That's perfect for logos and simple graphics, but for photos and phone screenshots it makes very large files. The same photo as a JPG is often five to ten times smaller.

When should I keep the PNG instead?

Keep PNG for logos, icons and anything with a transparent background, and for images with small, sharp text where JPG can add faint smudges around the letters. For photos, JPG is almost always the better choice.

What happens to a transparent background?

JPG can't be see-through, so transparent areas become white.

Can I make the file even smaller?

Yes — lower the quality slider and every image is converted again straight away, so you can see the new size before you download.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your own browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to BoltDeck or anyone else.
